A copy of the original drawings for the Treasury Building, designed by John James Clark when he was around 19 years of age. The building was completed in 1862, and is ranked as one of the most beautiful public buildings in Australia. One of many 'treasures' given to Melbourne by John James Clark, who was also responsible for The Law Courts, The Royal Mint, The City Baths and many more in Melbourne, country Victoria and other States.

There are many doodles and working sketches around this main drawing, presumably as Mr Clark tried various ideas for the building's design.

Notes from the State Library state that the image is of the "West facade of the Treasury Building Melbourne with faint pencil perspective u.l. (upper left) and other pencil annotations."

This is a digitally retouched reproduction of the original held by the State Library of Victoria. All prints are reproduced without the HOTPRESS watermarks.

Our team of conservators have worked on a high resolution digital image in order to remove blemishes and artifacts such as stains, mould, scratches and damage caused by the handling of the original. We strive to provide authentic representations of the original work that are suitable for enlargements that retain the tones and character of the original.
