We have chosen images for our Australian Historical Images that are out of copyright and in the Public Domain.

Many of the original documents, negatives and glass plates have sustained all sorts of damage over the years from improper storage, handling and misuse. At HotPress we use high resolution digital images of these originals (provided by the organisations mentioned below) as the basis for our products. Where possible our conservators have worked for many hours to remove years of damage and they bring the digitized image back to being a closer representation of how the original looked in the first place. That level of work represents an added value to the product that we feel justifies our prices and our entitlement to offer the enhanced version to the general public.

The images used as the basis for our Australian Historical Images have been sourced from the following organisations.

  • State Library of Victoria (the SLV website provides useage of these images as per their following statement "You may find digital copies of items from the Library's collections, such as photographs or recorded interviews, on the Library's online catalogue. Where this material is out of copyright it may be freely used provided the Library and the creator are acknowledged; however, the Library does not endorse any inappropriate or derogatory use" at this page.

  • State Library of New South Wales (the SLNSW website provides useage of these images as per their following statement) "You may find digital copies of items from the Library's collections, such as photographs, paintings, diaries, letters or recorded interviews, on the Library's website and online catalogue.
