Flinders Street, looking east, sometime during WWI, i.e., between 1914 and 1918. A large print of this image reveals the details of the shops on the left hand side, which is the northern side of Flinders Street.
Notes from the State Library of Victoria say that this image is "A view of the north side of Flinders street, showing the premises of Robert Reid & Co. Ltd., and the Spencer Street tram. A cart drawn by two horses is laden with sacks on the left. The street shows a mixture of motor and horse drawn vehicles." From a series of photographs by the Kerr Brothers.
This is a digitally retouched reproduction of the original held by the State Library of Victoria.
Our team of conservators have worked on a high resolution digital image in order to remove blemishes and artifacts such as stains, mould, scratches and damage caused by the handling of the original. We strive to provide authentic representations of the original work that are suitable for enlargements that retain the tones and character of the original.
