A detailed map of Victoria as it was in 1856. Victoria was in the grip of its gold rush and these maps were produced to assist the great numbers of people who were off to the goldfields around Victoria.

The notes from the State Library tell us that this image is "The traveller's map of Victoria (Australia) [cartographic material] : showing all the roads, rivers, towns, counties, gold-diggings, sheep and cattle stations, &c, &c, &c. Published in: How to farm and settle in Australia / by an old colonist (Ferguson no. 10584)."

This is a digitally retouched reproduction of the original held by the State Library of Victoria. All prints are reproduced without the HOTPRESS watermarks.
